I’m looking forward to this challenge, sometimes I struggle for inspiration with my photography, and I’m hoping that this will re-ignite my passion.  I will be posting my snaps on here, so keep an eye out :) Fancy joining in on the challenge? Leave a comment below and maybe we can get a Flickr group going?

A Year to Inspire

I have just come across the most inspiring and pretty awesome blog and feel the need to share it with you. A Year to Inspire is created by two friends Stephanie and Annetta and is about their art journaling in 2014. Taking hints and prompts from this book the girls will blog their journals each day.

I have literally spent the last hour and a bit reading each post and admiring the pictures. The photography is beautiful, and that alone is filled with inspiration. Once I had read the last post I swiftly took myself off to Amazon and downloaded a copy of the book.

Now I’m not going to kid myself that I am going to do this and blog about it everyday, because I know what I am like and try as I might I know that ultimately I will fail in the challenge. A bit defeatist you might think but unfortunately it’s true.

One of my resolutions this year was to improve my photography, take more pictures and blog more frequently. Sometimes I’m stuck with inspiration of what to write, and sometimes even the Daily Post doesn’t inspire and when those times strike I now have another source of inspiration. I’m looking forward to following the girls journey and hopefully creating an interesting one for myself.

Check them out, and get inspired yourself! :)

Pretty paper flower ideas

Following on from my last post on some of my Valentines crafting, I thought I would share with you some lovely paper flower ideas and tutorials, perfect if you can’t quite afford an expensive bouquet . Some of these are so impressive you’d be hard pushed to tell at first glance that they were not real! Each photo is linked so you can go straight to the tutorial, just click on the text under the picture. And at least with these paper flowers they will last a lifetime!

Valentines Crafting

So I’ve just realised how long it has been since I last blogged! I’m not entirely sure where the time has gone, but I’m pleased to say I’ve not been completely idle during my blogging absence. Although it does mean the resolution to  blog more is not going to plan!

So what have I been up to? Well the new brooches are now in the shop as well as some fabulous fabric buttons. Bu tsomething more exciting than that is I’ve been working on something new! As I mentioned previously in another post I have a craft fair coming up for Valentines. So my mind has been focused on that, I knew I wanted to make some sort of heart hanging ornament, but I wanted to make it a little different and a bit special. It was while I was in a craft shop that I came across some ribbon which was exactly what I had in mind, and I had my very own Eureka moment, like the ribbon was put there just for me! :)

Originally my idea was to embroider the word love onto the heart somehow, but as you may agree I think the ribbon looks  a lot better.

I’ve used Cath Kidston and Tilda fabrics, some vintage style lace, felt and a cute little button as a final embellishment. What do you think??

I will be listing them in the shop as well as having them on my craft stall. These are un scented but I am going to offer scented ones to order. So if you would like one of these for your Valentine or to just add some prettiness to your home they will be available very soon with more on the way as well.

Lovely washi tape storage ideas

washi tape

Currently this is the total of my washi tape collection, although it does seem to be building fairly rapidly! At the moment I’ve just got them stored in this pretty bowl but at the rate this new addiction is taking over I am soon going to run out of space. Over on good ole Pinterest I have seen some beautiful and creative storage ideas that I thought I would share with you.

New Flower Brooches

I hope you are all having a good weekend. It has been so dark and dreary here but we’ve had no rain today so that is an improvement! Being in the South and the Thames Valley for that matter, we’ve been hit hard with the flooding. However personally it’s not affected us  as we are in our first floor flat, but all the fields around us are completely flooded and several roads are closed because of it too. You don’t feel like doing much when the weather is so bad!

So now Christmas is finally  over, I’ve been thinking forward to the next few months and planning some new crafts. Especially as I have a Valentines Craft Fair at the beginning of February.

I have some very pretty Tilda and Liberty fabrics as well as some pretty pastel felts, and thought the combination of the two would be perfect to use to make some new brooches. I already knew I wanted them to be flower shaped, and this is what I’ve come up with..

What do you think? I’ve only made a couple so far. Do you like? I would appreciate any feedback. I  am trying to decide if to make some more or not. Although I am enjoying making them.

I will have to redo the pictures before I list them, in fact the whole shop is in need of a makeover. It’s one of the things I hate about this time of year, it’s so dark it’s impossible to get good product photos!

I hope you are keeping warm and dry, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Daily Post

Pretty, pretty shoes

Daily Prompt: Describe your personal style, however you’d like to interpret that — your clothing style, your communication style, your hair style, your eating style, anything.

Photographers, artists, poets: show us STYLE.

My priorities with style has certainly changed as I’ve.. *ahem*.. got older.  In my early 20’s I was obsessed with style and fashion, shoes being my main love (I must have had over 100). Ten years on and things are very different. I’m more into cosy comfort than sky scraper heels.  However it doesn’t stop me drooling and dreaming of pretty shoes and for my wedding last year, the shoes were just as important as the dress and in fact took me longer to find!

my shoes

Ta da! These are the shoes I wore –  so pretty! But they ruined my feet, something that to this day I’m still paying for. I can’t actually wear heels anymore without my feet REALLY hurting. So I have to just pore over pictures on Pinterest instead, and one thing I have noticed is I must be obsessed with bows! And if I was a young 2o something again, I know that bows would be ‘my style’.
