Santa Claus Lane Fabric – Pull Bang Pop Pillow

My lovely friend Sally – @chasing.tigers has released a fab new pattern just in time for Christmas and I had the great fortune of receiving an early version of it.

Pull Bang Pop is a fun and easy patchwork project to celebrate the festive season.  The table runner will add a bright and fun centre piece to your table this season.  The pattern is scrap friendly and comes together really quickly. Short on time? You don’t have to make the full runner, pick part of the project and make up a festive pillow (like I have) to decorate the house.

I love any project that includes the opportunity to include some fussy cutting and this make is no exception.

This was such a fun pattern that came together so quickly. I love how it can be adapted to meet your needs, you must check out the hashtag #pullbangpoppattern for more ideas. I would love to make the full table runner when I am less pressed for time. Although knowing how clumsy my family are with the gravy jug, it may be too nice to actually use for Christmas dinner! Would you believe this is actually the first Christmas pillow I have made for the house? I know right!? That is something that I plan to change!

It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t add some hand quilting too, and the pattern is really suited to this. I decided to keep the quilting to a minimum as tempting as it was to do an all over design, I really wanted to show off the design and the lovely fabrics. You can purchase the pattern here. There’s still time to sew it before the big day!!

The fabrics are from the collection Santa Claus Lane designed by Polka Dot Chair for Riley Blake Designs. I also used the Blossoms fabric designed by Christopher Thompson from their basics collection, which happen to include a wonderfully festive metallic gold version. I think it works so well as a background fabric, like little sparkles of confetti have come out of the cracker!

I am trying to get into the Christmas spirit, with a excited 5 year old that’s not too hard. However there is a huge part of me that is very sad for Christmas this year, for so many reasons, although the main one being the first without my mum. She adored Christmas, and always made it so special for us. It just won’t be the same.

But with Christmas fabrics, stitching and a little girl who even though it’s still only November is about to burst with excitement, hopefully I can put my “woe is me” attitude to one side and enjoy this extremely different Christmas this year.

Not a creature was stirring

I took advantage of a recent sale The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery had and bought this festive little pattern (among others). It stitched up quick, probably quicker than the time it will take me to actually make it into something! I must do that soon!! I am thinking a tree decoration or at least a little something to put with Santa’s treats on Christmas eve. We read the story every year so it will be a nice little addition!

How is it December TOMORROW!??
