I recently had the pleasure of testing a pattern for Damjana from Apple Green Cottage. Her pattern the Enya Wallet is super functional and practical! You have pockets upon pockets and plenty of slots for cards, notes and your phone. I can definitely see me using this a lot over the summer when I don’t want to carry too much.
There are so many customisable possibilities to this purse. I chose to do my exterior (the oh so gorgeous Wildwood canvas by Rifle Paper Co) all in one fabric but you could totally mix it up with different fabrics for each part and a separate fabric choice for the flap.
The inside features 8 slots for cards and slip pockets for your phone and notes. On the other side is a zip pocket. There are also instructions to fit a detachable lanyard style keyholder, so you can have quick access to your keys without any worry they will fall or get taken out of the purse.
As well as that you have a zipper pocket at the back, and a flap pocket on the front.
For a wallet sized purse there is certainly plenty of space for all those little essentials you need! It makes it so easy to keep everything ultra organised so you are not scrabbling about your purse when you’re in a rush or at the checkout. You have the option to make this with a cross-body strap, wristlet or even forego the straps altogether and use it as a wallet. Mine is not quite long enough for a cross body but will be a nice handbag style length. They are detachable though so you can always change it up when it suited you.
The skill level for the purse has been set as Intermediate but if you are a confident beginner you will be fine! The instructions are incredibly well written with a photo for every single step. Seriously this is one well written pattern!! You also have the option to print the pattern pieces and cut them out, or Damjana has included a list of cutting options if you prefer not to print. As a pattern to test I really enjoyed this one! It was a lot of fun and I am really chuffed with the purse I have finished off with. Looking back I wish I had used some different fabrics for the inside, but hey they’re on the inside and it’s only really me that’ll see those! Because I was using a heavy canvas and interfacing I used a denim needle and I would recommend that even if you are using a quilting cotton using one too. They are perfect for bag making and handle a lot of layers of fabric much better than a regular needle, you really will notice a difference!
For a limited time the pattern is available with 40% off, so if you fancy giving it a try I would get it now! Just use the code ENYA40 at checkout. You can get your copy of the pattern here
Thank you for this amazing post, and for being ready to test for me. Your Enya is gorgeous and your beautiful wallet photos make me want to get back to sew another Enya (even with the many I’ve already sewn!) Thank you, xoxo
