Gingerbread House Patchwork Blocks

Gingerbread House Patchwork Blocks

I had so much fun getting into some Christmas spirit testing this new pattern by Nadra of Ellis and Higgs, she has just released a whole new collection of Christmas themed blocks perfect for the holiday season. As with all her patterns they come in two sizes a 6″ and 12″ block and are well written and easy to understand.

I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to cut into my Heather Ross bundle Trixie. Such sweet fabric like this is always hard to cut but this I thought this was the pattern to do it. Gingerbread houses after all are covered in sweets! Plus all little houses need some little mice to look after it.

The background fabric is one of my new faves Shabby Cloud by Riley Blake Designs, which makes me think of a nice dusky evening before you settle down for the night in front of a fire (well if I had one!).

This was such a fun pattern and with the applique additions the possibilities for fussy cutting are endless. I am tempted to create a whole village!
