New Dawn Fabric – Finch Bucket

Today I am sharing what I made with Citrus and Mint Designs newest fabric collection for Riley Blake Designs – New Dawn.

I really love this collection. The beautiful pastel colours combined with that gorgeous hot pink makes my heart sing. Not forgetting to mention the peonies and strawberries! In fact when you look closer you will see there are lots of lovely details!

I thought it would be fun to make a Finch Bucket Bag. It is a pattern that has been on my to make list for some time; I can’t resist a drawstring bag! I chose to do the original size which is the largest size in the pattern, and boy is it big!! Plenty of storage space with this baby!

With the patchwork squares cut at 4.5″ you really get to see these fabrics shine. I combined it with a lovely natural linen.

I love the lining fabric! Those little bees! My only disappointment is I have used it all up already, it is the sweetest low volume fabric and a perfect blender.

Two very large pockets give the opportunity to make plenty of space for pens, tools and notions. And look at how much fabric I have stashed in the middle, so much room!

I really do love the hot pink! I am normally led towards pastels, but it seems the last 2 projects I’ve enjoyed a bolder colour.

The Finch Bucket is a pattern by Stitch Mischief .

I loved this pattern and will be making some more for sure! I love how she includes instructions for both a patchwork version or just the one print. I wish I was a knitter because it would be great for holding yarn.

It’s only after I finished making this bag that I remembered I made a drawstring (Dilly) bag with the last collection Rachel designed, Pemberley. I gifted it to mum at Christmas and she filled it up with yarn. If only I was able to give her this one too, she loved her wool!
